This is a dramatised abbreviated reading of Matthew 2:14 and 19-23 and Luke 2:52

 

Narrator   When the wise men had gone, an angel of the Lord ….

Angel       Glory to God!

Narrator   … appeared to Joseph in a dream.

Angel       Get up, and take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt.  Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to                        search for the child to kill him.

Narrator   So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night, and left for Egypt.

               After Herod died, an angel of the Lord …

Angel       Glory to God!

Narrator   … appeared to Joseph in a dream and said:

Angel       Get up, and take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life                are dead.

Narrator   So he got up, took the child and his mother, and went to the land of Israel, to the land of Galilee, and lived in a town                called Nazareth.  And the child grew and became strong.  He was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was                    upon him.
